The Osprey Cam is back online for 2017 as we await the return of ospreys to Chesapeake Beach, which should happen on or about St. Patrick's Day. Have patience -- the length of time before an image is displayed below is affected by many factors including, but not limited to, your Internet connection, viewing device, and the number of simultaneous viewers. Specific location details are offered below the list of suggested reference websites for osprey biology, life history, migration patterns etc. The camera system is powered by a solar array that recharges batteries. However, a series of cloudy days can and will interrupt power to the camera and stop the video feed.
(March 10, 2017): We are working on technical issues so please have patience if the video is offline...

Osprey Cam Notes: This camera is located above and adjacent to an osprey nest platform that was erected during the Spring of 2014 by Chesapeake Beach Public Works personnel and volunteers. It is located generally due north of the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail and is powered by a solar array.
This Osprey Nest Platform is located at 38°41'21.1"N 76°32'28.8"W near the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail within the Town of Chesapeake Beach (MD) in Calvert County. The Trail for the mort part runs parallel to Fishing Creek about 1/2 mile upstream from the Creek mouth where it enters Chesapeake Bay proper.
